Bute is basking in 27 degrees worth of sunshine and azure skies, folk are out and about in town enjoying pokey hats and iced drinks, the Waverly sounds it arrival and it feels like Lanza-Rothesay today, why would you want to be anywhere else today than our big wee island?
This the time of year local shops make the money to see them through the driechest winter. The weekend marks the beginning of Scotland’s school holidays followed a few weeks later by the rest of the UK. And as the town prepares to mark this with Rothsay’s Gala day, donkey rides and puppets hopes are high for a good season. The island appears to have a real positive buzz this year and is showing its best face to visitors with fresh paint and friendly smiles. The festivals are planned, the bed and board booked & the beer brewed to welcome visitors from near and far to our wee slice of summer.
So today forget Brexit, exchange rates & modern woes. Whether your sat with the seals at Scalpsie, have ice cream running over your knuckles by the prom or taking a turn around the island after a clammy day’s work; turn your face to the sun and enjoy.
Hast ye back 😊
